Priory Court Community Weekend

Celebrate Community, Support Priory Court Food Hub –

Join Us for the Mayor’s Community Weekend

On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September,

Priory Court Community Centre will come alive for the Mayor’s Community Weekend

— a two-day celebration of local pride, creativity and togetherness.

Hosted by GB Carnival and The Skills Within, and supported by local voluntary organisations, the weekend will showcase the incredible projects that take place at Priory Court every week — from creative workshops and social activities to food support and cultural performances.

What’s On

  • Saturday 13th September (11am–4pm): Makers Market, Open Mic, Community Café & Meal, Tai Chi, Community Living Room, Gentle Arts workshops and more.

  • Sunday 14th September (3pm–6pm): A rare chance to experience Cantonese Opera, alongside lantern-making, drumming and community arts activities.

All activities are free, including a community meal where you can pay what you can or exchange your skills in return.

Why It Matters

Alongside the celebrations, the weekend will also serve as a fundraiser for

Priory Court Food Hub.

For several years, volunteers have run a bi-weekly food hub at Priory Court, supporting over 60 households every week, including many residents who are housebound and cannot access food elsewhere.

Right now, the food hub faces serious challenges in accessing surplus food supplies. Without urgent support, this vital lifeline for families and vulnerable residents is at risk.

That’s why we’ve launched an online fundraising campaign — and we’re inviting the community to come together to keep the food hub running.
