Join us in co-creating a bold, community-led legacy for

Windrush in Waltham Forest.

 

The Skills Within and Great British Carnival, appointed Lead Partners for the Windrush 2025 Programme, are inviting individuals and organisations across the borough to express interest in joining the

Waltham Forest Windrush Community Consortium.

 

This is a paid opportunity to help design and deliver an annual programme that celebrates Windrush heritage — with the community at its heart.

 

We’re building a collaborative network of voluntary organisations, creatives, cultural practitioners and community groups committed to honouring the past, present and future of Windrush communities in Waltham Forest.

What You'll Do

By joining the Consortium, you will:

Take part in paid
co-design workshops
(Sept 2025 – Mar 2026)

Widen your network and collaborate with others to deliver an inclusive, intergenerational celebration

Shape the vision, purpose and delivery of the Windrush 2025 programme

Build your capacity by accessing support for planning, admin, marketing and evaluation

Propose and lead Windrush-themed activities eligible for funding

Have your work featured in a borough-wide Windrush programme

Who We’re Looking For
We welcome expressions of interest from:

Culturally rooted organisations working in or connected to Waltham Forest

Individuals, artists, educators, historians or youth workers with ties to Windrush heritage

Grassroots and emerging groups — no prior funding experience required

Anyone with lived experience and deep roots in Caribbean and African diaspora communities

Great British Carnival CIC

We are a vibrant collective of artists and producers using Carnival Arts to bring people together and create joy.

From local workshops to spectacular processions, our work showcases the artistic excellence and cultural diversity of global Carnival styles in Britain.

 

We collaborate with communities to transform everyday spaces — and participants — into celebrations of identity, heritage and pride.

Skills Within Developments CIC

Skills Within is a community-led organisation focused on empowerment, healing and skills for life.

Our projects range from youth mentoring and SEN and food truck initiatives to “community living rooms” — safe, inclusive spaces shaped by and for our communities.

 

We believe in culturally grounded, community-designed solutions that meet people where they are and centre wellbeing, voice and belonging.
