The Windrush legacy is more than history — it’s a living force in our communities. It’s the heartbeat of generations who built, led and nurtured local culture, resilience and pride. Now, in Waltham Forest, we’re creating something powerful to honour that legacy and move it forward — together.
What is the Windrush Community Consortium?
The Windrush Community Consortium is a new, independent and community-led initiative designed to empower Black-led and culturally rooted individuals and organisations in Waltham Forest. It’s a space to collaborate, organise, share knowledge, access funding and shape decision-making around cultural and creative projects — with the Windrush generation and their descendants at the centre.
Whether you're an artist, community organiser, business owner, youth leader, or someone deeply connected to the Windrush legacy — this is a chance to come together and make real impact.
Why This Matters
Too often, community voices are left out of conversations about funding, culture and visibility. This consortium changes that. It’s about ownership, representation and investment — in our people, our work and our future.
We're not just inviting you to take part. We're asking you to help shape it.
Get Involved: Discovery Sessions
We’re running weekly discovery sessions to hear your ideas, understand your needs and co-create the vision for the consortium.
Dates: Every Friday from 8 August to 12 September
In-person: Fridays, 4pm – 7pm at Art Works East, 32 Osier Way, E10 5SB
Online: Fridays, 12:30pm – 1:30pm on Zoom
Zoom ID: 841 2047 8833 | Passcode: tE9G5y
Everyone is welcome — whether you're part of an organisation or attending as an individual.
