The Skills Within
Creating a Sustainable Future
A little bit about us
How does Skills Within deliver and facilitate a wide range of events, activities and support for both local community and business? Below is a quick taste of some of the work we have been involved in. We hope this gives you a clear vision of how we can work so broadly and effectively across many fields. In part this is due to the wide range of skills within the core team.

THE SKILLS WITHIN LIVING ROOM
Having gone through a particularly difficult time in my life, I was left without hope or optimism, isolated and alone....The Skills Within Living Room has been an absolute lifeline for me, I have met lots of lovely new friends, I have had wonderful home baked meals cooked to perfection, endless hot drinks and terrific fun and great conversations. Nathan and Natalie have been a terrific support, who have created a little miracle on Hoe Street.

Our students enjoyed participating in the Saluting Our Sisters Black History Month Art Competition. We looked at the work of Simone Leigh and created three small sculptures inspired by her amazing artwork. Participating in this project was a great way of celebrating Black History Month. We were delighted to receive the first prize, and we will make good use of the art resources we received for winning the competition. Overall, it has been a very positive experience that has lifted the self-esteem of our pupils.

STRATEGY, DESIGN & COMMUNITIES TEAM
LONDON BOROUGH OF WALTHAM FOREST
As Community Events Manager, I've recently worked with Nat + Nate during Black History Month. The Communities Team provided small grants to Community Groups to celebrate Black History Month and I was amazed by how far they managed to stretch their budgets, and the innovative ways they did so. Their communication with me throughout the project was clear and detailed and they kept to deadlines and kept me updated throughout. Their events were varied, inclusive and hit all the our project aims. Nate and Nat involved schools, gave voice to local Black figures, and went to local charities as venue options – its so clear they are passionate about the community.
